In 2022, we were invited to provide security for a unique exhibition at London’s Design Museum before it embarked on a world tour. The OAK Collection is a one-of-a-kind collection of extraordinary watches, featuring vintage and rare pieces, handcrafted and personalised contemporary models, and created by makers as renowned as Patek Philippe, F.P.Journe and Kari Voutilainen.
Why Knight Protection?
For an event like this, insurance underwriters must have absolute confidence in security arrangements. Following our security review, not only were Knight Protection chosen ahead of our competitors, but the insurance underwriter’s consultant insisted that full insurance would only be provided if Knight Protection was appointed.
But there was a challenge. Due to each item’s value, the insurers wanted them stored in over 50 separate safes. The Museum was originally quoted by another company for a cage. This was both expensive and did not solve the issue of insurance while the watches were taken out to be worked on. Our solution? For around half the cost of the cage, we commissioned a single high security door that both satisfied the insurers and also perfectly matched the style of the museum’s existing doors (we’re always sensitive to design and interiors).
The exhibition was an enormous success. And for Knight Protection it’s now led to an invitation to provide the security for a legendary French jewellery brand.
